Crackling audio after GCC compiler update?
C64
It seems that after GCC update 47337dff audio emulation (any driver, I use Wasapi Shared as default) got much worse with audible crackles all the time.
Reinstalled 2.1 public and went back to normal.

repo owner C64 and/or Amiga ?
I'll look into this, haven't done anything with audio lately.

reporter C64 as written in frist msg. Anyway only build f8d5cef8 seemed affected…
P.S.: may I kindly ask you to add a pre-tag like “(C64)” or “(Amiga)” in nightlies description changes?

build f8d5... can't possibly trigger that.

In many cases, the changes apply to both systems. But if it's unambiguous, I try to think about it.

Yeah, that’s what I thought too… but strange enough that build was causing crackles in C64 emu with every game, and just using another build solved the issue. As a double-check I tried again that build and bug re-appeared… However it was an isolated case now solved with recent builds so nothing to worry about IMHO.

repo owner I dont’t get a problem with this build. really strange.
warp speed is normal in this build ? maybe the crackles come from reduced speed ? … because of virus scanner … whatever external process.

reporter Not worth taking time away from Denise's development for this transitional rare issue IMHO ;) Will check this out in the future if it ever happens again…
P.S. no the conditions were exactly the same for this build vs others where issue was not reproducible.

(still happens with latest nightly 191b7464 )
EDIT: I was wrong, not a GCC issue. It seems a bug after latest build 191b7464. Previous was still fine.
