Scramble Infinity issues

The game seems to randomly skip ahead while playing, even with “run ahead” disabled.

The game reloads in between. You probably have the option: “Auto Warp” enabled and the checkbox "Disk: first file only" unchecked. This will turn on the warp as soon as it is loading. That's what creates the jumps.
The "Input check finish Warp" option improves this in some games of this type, such as Spooky or Gran Monster Slam.

Only a few games reload while playing. The automatic warp is linked to the activity of the drive engine and must be disabled in these cases. Any attempt to detect such games would likely result in unreliable behavior.
