Notes for the future of CraftBian (v2.0)

Issue #12 open

Generally i imagine version 2.0 of CraftBian to be very much like CraftBian version 1.x, BUT the major change is code wise, where i hope to change the framework from being a self developed one to run on the Laravel PHP Framework. Laravel is a very solid and praised framework, that i have lots of experience with, and like, and it helps keeping the code more organized. However, i need to investigate if Laravel will have too much impact on performance on the little Raspberry Pi first.

I also hope to make CraftBian 2 more "universal", meaning that it can run on other hardware than the Raspberry Pi. I will be getting a Asus Tinker Board soon, or something alike, and will probably begin the baby steps of CraftBian 2 there

Things i hope to achieve with the next version

    • Based on Armbian (or some light Ubuntu?) instead of Minibian as both are updated more frequently and still based on Debian
    • Multiple platform/board support
    • Utilize the Laravel PHP Framework
    • Nginx to replace Lighttpd
    • Make less dependent on remote server
    • Better updating system, that can also account for the software behind CraftBian
    • Multi language
    • Logging system, maybe even remote submission of logs

I had a though, just now. But first, that screen capture is nice and clean! Excellent work!

My though is for folks that have a dynamic IP with their ISP (like myself. I know, bad example. XD) Perhaps an IP auto updater with that can be usable with services like NoIP. I use the service for my personal cloud that my family uses. I thought something along the same lines for Craftbian couple be helpful, also. For example, using something that's set up though such an IP service and it be updated when the local application detects an IP change with the ISP.

    Any thoughts about that?
