Cloud Pricing FAQ
Is Bitbucket free for small teams?
Yes! Bitbucket is free for individuals and small teams with up to 5 users, with unlimited public and private repositories. You also get 1 GB file storage for LFS and 50 build minutes to get started with Pipelines. You share build minutes and storage with all users on your team or personal account.
What is a user? What is a team or account?
A user is anyone with a Bitbucket account. Once you give a user access to a private repository they count as a user for your billing plan. A team or account is a group of users with access to shared projects and repositories. Learn more.
What do you mean by "build minute" and "file storage"?
A "build minute" is one minute of machine time running a Pipelines build. 1 GB of "file storage" is the available storage space, currently through LFS, for media or other large files. This storage space is in addition to 1 GB of storage per repository. You share build minutes and storage with all users on your team or personal account.
What types of payment do you accept?
Credit card (including MasterCard, Visa or American Express) via our secure online order form at the end of your signup.
Can I change my plan at a later time?
Yes! You can change your plan from Standard to Premium and vice versa by heading to your team or personal account settings, Plan details, and 'change plan'.
Can I buy an annual subscription?
Annual subscriptions are currently not supported on Bitbucket Cloud.
What is the difference between Standard and Premium?
Standard plan includes all the current features in Bitbucket including LFS and Pipelines. Premium plan is a new pricing tier for larger teams that require granular admin controls, security and auditing capabilities. Premium plan will currently include merge checks, IP whitelisting, required two-step verification and mirroring which are not included in the Standard plan. Find out more about the Bitbucket Cloud Premium plan here.
Do you offer free community or academic subscriptions?
Yes! Community or academic subscriptions include unlimited private repositories for unlimited contributors which also includes 5 GB file storage for LFS and 500 build minutes for Pipelines to help you get started. You share build minutes and storage with all users on your team or personal account. Fees will apply for additional build minutes and file storage.
How can I sign up for a free academic subscription?

What is the difference between Server and Data center?
Bitbucket Server is a single on-premise instance of Bitbucket. For teams that require high-availability, performance at scale, and smart mirroring for distributed teams we offer Bitbucket Data Center, an active-active cluster of Bitbucket Server nodes. If your team prefers a single server installation, download a free trial of Bitbucket Server here. Bitbucket Server pricing information can be found here.
What is the difference between Server and Data Center licensing?
Bitbucket Server has a perpetual license while Data Center has an annual term license that includes updates and support as long as your term license is active. Data Center licenses expire and are not perpetual like our server licenses. See the Data Center purchasing FAQ for more information.
