Allow users to reply to their own messages before the recipient replies

Sometimes users want to add something to a thread before the recipient has replied. Right now, a user can't reply to a message that they've sent to some one until a thread has been created when the recipient replies.

On a similar note, there seems to be no easy way to link generically to a message thread, i.e. there are two separate urls depending on whether the message is part of a thread or not, it would be nice if the thread view worked even if the message didn't have a reply yet.

Point 1: the design is so, a reply is linked to something received, not sent.

Point 2: Ignored, because an issue must be limited to one subject. Open another issue if you want a follow-up on that subject.
