Writing cluster chain map failed during format F drive

Issue #114 new
professor_jonny created an issue

I get an error code as below:

bootidewritemultiple: write sector failed. 2 retry left.

This happens only when I format F drive if I format in xb partitioner I do not get a failure.

This failure happens again after a successful format from xb partitioner.

When this error pops up XBlastOS locks up and the only way to recover is it power down and cold boot.

I don't know if the hdd is failing but it passes the smart test and I cant hear it trying to remap sectors or retry read/ write operations, I have tried to copy on data and all seems to work well if I format in xb partitioner, I can try to do a lowlevel format and bad sector scan if need be.

If I view the partition after attempted format in XBlastOS it has data on the drive that I'm unable to delete or rename.

Yeah, it's most likely an error in XBlast OS itself. I vaguely remember encountering the same issue when I was testing the new FATX fs driver. We'll see how that one goes once I release a new version.

I did try a low level format and tried seatools to verify the disk and passed with no faults.

Everything seems to operate correctly after formatting from xb partitioner, of note the size of the f partition was larger after an attempted format with XBlastOS compaired to xbpartitioner.

ll hold out for a new build to test and let you know.
