Bios MD5

Issue #78 new

Would it be possible to add bios MD5 table in xblast os so we could list the bios banks in the info menu muck like xbmc ?

it would be handy if there was a similar function to compare the md5 of the bios you wish to flash and the one loaded in the bank you are flashing also.

Could be a neat feature. md5 calc is already in use to validate XBlast OS update image integrity.

If the md5 and bios name were implemented in a table in bios it could automatically pick up the bios name without you having to chose it in the bank naming menu item which would be cool.

You're right. That's even better! I'll keep that one in mind and work on it soon.

one problem with md5 though is custom bios edited with the tools available is listed as unknown and XBMC for example says please add it to the list.

In cases where this is the case and boot graphics are removed it is real hard to tell what it is from a first glance.

If it could report an unknown variant of m8 or m7 by reading the bios instead of just calculation the md5 on the file as a whole, no other tool that I know of offers this feature I have always thought about putting in a feature request for this on XBMC.

Another cool thing is you could use this table for is it to verify bios file integrity before flashing them this would be orientated at avoiding tsop bricking the tsop for the purpose of saying this bois is unknown to xblast are you sure you wish to flash it but it looks like a variant of bla bla are you sure you wish to flash it?

An addition to this would be if the tsop bank is bigger bank than the size of the bios file instead of flashing all banks it could flash a split bios with a known bios (Xblast OS maybe) embedded in a quadrant allowing recovery in the event of a failure?.

I think there is technical issues to this as well as you have to have the split wiring installed and other prerequisites if you think it is possible I could add a feature request for it? for this to happen you would have to keep a known bios stored somewhere as it wont fit in flash.
