Is there any change that Pybtex will recognize both BibTeX and BibLaTeX files in a future version?
This would mean f.e. interchangeable reading of “journal”/”journaltitle”, “year”/”date” - i.e. fallback to the BibLaTeX fieldname if the BibTeX one was not found?
