help importing pygame into python 3.3

Issue #150 invalid
Anonymous created an issue

my 10 year old is interested in learning coding. I selected python and pygame as being able to hold his interest while learning. However, I get the following error when he tries to import pygame. Using Windows Vista and python 3.3 and pygame 1.9.2ao (1.9.3 was not available to download and I could not get python 3.1.5 off the site)

import pygame Traceback (most recent call last): File "<pyshell#1>", line 1, in <module> import pygame File "C:\Python33\lib\site-packages\pygame__init__.py", line 95, in <module> from pygame.base import * ImportError: DLL load failed: The specified module could not be found.

I am not very technical and my son wants to be but is learning so any help is appreciated and please do use small words :*)

There was a question on the mailing list about Python 3.3 support, there are unofficial builds here: http://www.lfd.uci.edu/~gohlke/pythonlibs/#pygame

Make sure you select the version with 'py3.3' in the name. If that doesn't work, you'll probably have to try an older Python version.

If you have any more questions of this nature, it's probably best to post them to the mailing list, where there are more people to provide you with answers: http://www.pygame.org/wiki/info#Mailing%20List
