POLYURETHANE BINDER (PU) - 25 ML

Binders used in functional coatings (e.g. electrodes) act as the 'glue' that attaches the active material to the current connector and maintains its structural integrity. Aqueous polyurethane emulsion with very good mechanical properties, high temperature resistance and electrochemical stability over a wide voltage range. Directions for use The binder is thoroughly mixed with the active material, where the ratio can vary from 30:70 to 1:99, depending on the application, active material, additives, etc. Water is used to dilute the mixture if necessary. Thickener (CMC) can be added to increase viscosity if required. The resulting slurry is applied to a current collector (e.g. doctor blade). The recommended drying temperature is 120°C. Cross-linking occurs under UV radiation, therefore sunlight should be avoided during storage. SuperSafe Polyurethane Binder is used in the manufacture of wet cast rubber surface installations. It is a single component, MDI based, non-volatile prepolymer system. Polyurethane Binder is primarily used to mix with EPDM and SBR granules for wet poured rubber surface installation.

Aromatic Binders

Aromatic binder is the most commonly used PU binder due to its economic value and market availability. Aromatic binder tends to yellow when exposed to sunlight or UV rays, this common phenomenon is called the "yellowing effect" of polyurethane binder. The yellowing effect can temporarily cause slight changes in the EPDM granules of some colours until the yellowing layer wears off from foot traffic.

For EPDM colour granules that are more susceptible to yellowing, we also offer an aromatic binder with added UV inhibitor. The added UV stabiliser acts as a retarder to slow down the yellowing effect that occurs, allowing the colour to change more slowly to a more uniform shade over a longer period of time.
