A section cut feature can be useful.

Video from onshape Especially this one looks really good. Please watch the video to see how they implemented the feature. Open the following link https://cad.onshape.com/help/index.htm#moving.htm#kanchor31 Click on "View parts sectioned with Section view"

The section-cut feature is not stable, but it is implemented. Bugs should be reported separately.

v3.160114 has the initial release of CutPlane object. CutPlane objects are used to create a cutting plane on 3D geometry view. The object is particularly useful to see the cross-section of the structure at certain location. It is also useful in viewing the inside of a structure (ex. building).
CutPlane object is defined by an origin (location), X, Y and Z parameters. By default, global X coordinate is the normal to the cutting plane. If an alignment is assigned to the CutPlane object, then the longitudinal axis on the alignment is taken as the normal of the plane.
The plane can be rotated using RX, RY and RZ parameters.
This is just the initial release. Currently certain graphics optimizations of the graphics window are showing incompatibilities with the feature. I will close this issue when CutPlane object is fully released.
An example of how it is used can be seen here, where the steel bridge template has a skewed plane cut.
