Auto save resetting to zero

When extender is activated, auto save in config is set to zero, i remember this was done to turn off auto save for default saves. I am unsure if saving still works when config auto save is set to zero but with extender on.

However it does cause some confusion and frustration to clients. Would it be possible for this to control the server extender saving method when extender is on?
