Issue #992
resolved
The attached patch adds Darwin 12.0.0 to the list of known architectures. This is the kernel version included with OS X 10.8.

The file name is based on the operating system name as returned by autoconf. Mac OS X is no different from other operating systems, except that it has more frequent updates.

That is what I meant: the autoconf string changes much more often than for other OSs because for some reason (which?) the version is included, which is not the case for some of the other OSs. We apparently don't care about the version; we treat all the same anyway. Could we apply some magic that would remove the version number for darwin so that 46 and growing identical files could be removed?

In general the patch is fine, but wouldn't it make more sense to not put the version in the filename and only use the file 'darwin'? All files 'darwin?*' only include the latter and are identical.
