I'm no lawyer; I'm not sure what's the right way to go. I almost want to release it into the public domain because my main interest is people using it, but I feel that may backfire.

    Thinking about it, having a reasonable license should be sufficient. If anything though, the spec should be public domain. But that'll have to wait till there is an implementable spec.
