This is the Kit Logistics Coordinator's documentation. The Kit Logistics Coordinator is responsible for managing the inventory and for the storage and shipping of all assets. There are no subordinate roles.
Kit Storage
Generally the assets of Student Robotics are stored in a shipping container at Newbury Container Storage Ltd. However, during the competition year, the majority of kit assets are effectively stored with teams. Also, some kit assets are stored with volunteers as they have been assigned for other uses (such as development, public relations or support).
Kit Shipping
Throughout the year kit needs to be shipped around. The Kit Logistics Coordinator is responsible for all movements of kit - both complete and parts thereof. No kit should be relocated without the consent of the Kit Logistics Coordinator. For details of how to ship kits and relevant procedures, see the Kit Shipping page.
Mail Handling
Student Robotics uses a mail handling company, UK Postbox, for its postal address. This allows multiple people to interact with mail as necessary and does not tie us to a particular location. The Kit Logistics Coordinator is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of Student Robotics' mail handling. This includes topping up the credit with UK Postbox as necessary and notifying addressees when new mail arrives. For more details and procedures see the Mail Handling page.
Logistics Software
The Kit Logistics Coordinator uses and maintains a suite of software to aid in the tracking and shipping of assets. Further details on the software can be found on the Logistics Software page.
