Cannot equip pack

My medium backpack was damaged, then destroyed by a bogwort. Managed to slay the bastard (Lv. 1 Mage, 9 STR), then made my way back to the shop with the gold I found earlier on my belt. Bought a new medium pack. In the inventory screen, with "uncursed medium backpack" in the "In the Air" slot, I move down to Pack, press spacebar, and receive the message, "Only a backpack or bag can serve as your pack." I look down, and see "In your uncursed medium backpack" in purple, as a container should list. I drop the backpack, and that goes away. <br /> <br /> I have the save, after the problem occurred, will attach. I have not moved from the shop, and the pack is on the floor at my feet.
