Crash: ?Help screen during Feats menu

simply popping the help screen and pressing exit a few times (or even other buttons) crashes the game.

the attachements are with 2 different characters during character creation.

Can you give better reproduction instructions? I cannot reproduce the problem. Which stage of the character creation? What exact sequence of buttons to press and when?

The dumps are good and show me what it is crashing on, and that it is character creation, but in this case they don't tell me why it is happening.

Sure.

My settings for character creation are mostly default ( I haven't changed anything when it comes to the order that the character's stats, class, race, feats, etc are drawn up).

I pick my race, go on to selecting the class ( I think both were human Rangers), and after selecting my points by the point buy option 'p', I beleive the feats menu pops up at that time like it always does (everything's fine up to this point).

I press shift + / for the ?help menu on feats which displays all the feats in column lists in grey text, I press esc, it displays feats ''available" which consists of the first feat in the menu with its description and no other feats. It pauses for another action, I press esc again and the game crashes and exits.

I'll pop back into the game again, see if I can't force this another time to see if my description was wrong but I am pretty sure this is how it happened.

Here's what happens for me:

1. I enter the feats screen, which contains columns of yellow feat names and pressing the cursor keys changes which of the entries is highlighted as the selected one with blue colouring. And below this is the short description of the currently selected feat.
2. I press ? or shift + /, and then I get an overlaid pink box, which contains the feats help document with purple text.
3. I press escape it takes me back to 1.

I have done this repeatedly, and it does not crash and everything displays normally. With a bug like this, it should be consistently reproducible with the same actions performed. If you are doing the exact same as what I am doing, then I'm not sure what else we can do.

I asked on the bay12 forums for people to try and reproduce it, and two people reported back they couldn't. I suspect there's something missing from your instructions - and unless you can provide step by step instructions an idiot (i.e. me) can follow which allow it to be reproduced, or a youtube video of you doing it with narration of what keys you're pressing as you do it, I can't see any way to fix this.

For now, it's been downgraded to minor, as it's not happening for anyone other than yourself, and even then it's for a small side action (nothing game critical). When it's possible for me to reproduce this, will upgrade it again.
