Issue #63 wontfix

Make use of depthbuffer

vrld avatarvrld created an issue

Having multiple layers of graphics requires to first build some kind of layer system. It would be more convenient and also faster to have that done by the graphic card using z coordinates (and thus the depthbuffer).

One could add a depth attribute to the drawing calls in love.graphics, or - better - introduce a new love.graphics.setLayer(layer).

Engh. I don't know if this is necessary or even desired - a layer system is trivial to implement Lua-side, and I'm not convinced using a depthbuffer is the best option here.

Rude or bartbes can comment further if they so desire, but my current feeling is no.

Just wanted to say I agree with the decision.

IIRC, we lose alpha blending if we use the depth buffer, so it's not really suitable anyway.
