Android Push Notifications

Issue #1167 wontfix
created an issue

I'd love to have the ability to send push notifications to the user, it'd be really helpful in all kinds of games.

Right now I'm making a simulation game which would greatly benefit from this feature, for example: The player opens the game, plays for a bit and when the game is closes it would run in the background while simulating the gameplay and the user would get notified when something important happens, this way the player won't have to open the game every hour to see if anything has changed.

What do you think ?

As far as I'm aware, all (current) push notification systems require a server, rather than the app itself, to trigger push notifications. This means it's probably already possible, and out of scope of love itself.

Actually no the app may configure its own push notification to show up at a specific point in time, with no server required. With idle games, the game can calculate in advance when notification should pop up and set it up, then even after the game is shut down the notification will pop up.
