achromatic is meant to provide a general framework for building synthetic observations from theoretical models and simulations. It attempts to do so in a wavelength-agnostic fashion, allowing the same framework handle anything from radio to gamma-ray. How well it achieves this is open to debate.

Primary Goals

  • Expose the fundamental characteristics of an observation
  • Provide a simple way of "observing" the same source with many different telescopes/instruments
  • Be flexible, allowing basic and advanced pipelines, as well as a clear path to move from one to the other.


This is all very much a work in progress, so expect changes, breakages, and disasters.
