Suggested Usability Improvement To Flex Charts
When a data file includes both “elapsed” and “work” time, e.g. SpeedCoach files, rowsandall reports work time but charts elapsed time. In flex charts, the chart displays elapsed time on the x-axis but displays averages for y-axis metrics based on work time. If the user choses to “include rest strokes”, the averages change to “elapsed time” numbers. To avoid confusion, I would suggest that the default flex chart should display work time on the x-axis to correspond with the average metrics based on work time. When the user selects “include rest strokes”, the x-axis should change to elapsed time and the averages recalculated based on elapsed time. Both the chart stack and static charts are also plotted against elapsed time. For consistency, I would suggest using work time for all charts.
