Same adapter and same problem. I solved using this guide: http://www.bravotouring.com/~yano/diary/it/20150519_mt7610u.htm. I set CountryRegionABand=7 in RT2870STA.dat, but the card is positioned as the first channel to scan to 52 not 36, my router is set to channel 38 for this reason it is unable to connect. I solved changing as the first channel to 36 in common/rt_channel.c in each CH_DESC Country_RegionXX_ChDesc_5GHZ. NOW IT WORKS PERFECTLY.
