Use two B-factors for "Relioncor"?
Hi,
Would it be possible to implement the use of two different B-factors (one for whole frame alignment and one for patch-based alignment) in the Relion implementation of Motioncor2?
The idea is to use a higher B-factor (e.g. 500) to effectively wright alignment towards lower spatial frequencies for global whole-frame alignment, and a lower B-factor (e.g. 150) for patch-based alignment.
This has been added to recent versions of Motioncor2, and it seems to help avoid problematic "double vision" errors like the attached, where I am assuming the alignment gets stuck in a false minimum during global alignment and then cannot recover during patch-based alignment.
Cheers Oli

reporter Sure thing Takanori! I will find a movie that gives this behavior with relioncor but works with the current version of MC2 (the pictured one will likely do the trick)

Hi, this is an interesting idea. Can you share me a movie that causes this problem?
