Total lack of internationalization/localization

The entire UI is currently very much hardcoded to US English-only.

The basic UI should be localized. perhaps a Google Translate-bootstrapped version of the text for a few primary languages that could be improved by native speakers.

Doing anything more with the underlying checklist would be very time-intensive task (and require a lot of volunteer work); we might consider supporting a scientific-names-only mode.
