Very odd behavior for "Species you haven't seen here" + "Add sighting"

Adam Winer created an issue

Things go very oddly when you click "Add sighting" in Browse by location with "Species you haven't seen here", because the species immediately disappears, and subsequent editing goes ... oddly.
