Support abbreviating location names

Probably more examples, but “DRC” for Democratic Republic of the Congo, also “St.” instead of Saint would generate much shorter names.

I think, in particular, that this would be useful for some spreadsheet, etc. output where the combination of multiple names might be too much. Might also drop parts of the hierarchy (e.g. drop state, just country), etc.
