Maintime aspect ratio while scaling images

I was trying to fix the scaling of images in panels, but it's kinda problematic if I only scale the size. So my idea is to keep the aspect ratio of both the offsets and the sizes. But if a panel contains both positive and negative offsets that are supposed to align then it goes wrong. For example this happens in the default Lo2k Blue Theme Counter, because the text is right aligned. This means I would have to implement right alignment differently, for example by using a positive offset and a checkbox to right align there. I'd also have to convert existing panels automatically to be backward compatible (and have old panels look good on widescreen). If the x value is smaller than -512 I could assume the actual value is 1024 + x with the new right alignment option checked.
