Clicking on an image in the Plots section of a collection could render in-line or in an image-viewer. Maybe have a separate download link?

The new layout takes care of this issue

The download link is already separate as filename.
Inline rendering creates lots of hassle as needs to expand the layout, etc. We are also enabling comments for each plot, so that will create other issues. We are reworking the entire layout to load extremely fast even on mobile devices, stay tuned.
