Problems with filter/search combination

Issue #30 resolved

I'm trying to test the Search options in order to write documentation that explains what they do, but I'm running into problems getting them to apply correctly over my chosen document filter.

So my aim was to find out how many instances of "love" and "death" are in the play Covent Garden. I tried to perform the search "love death" as All Search Terms Together over the filter Title:"covent".

  1. I filtered for title containing "covent" and performed this search and got results over the whole corpus, not my small subset.

  2. I returned to the Browse page, filtered again for Titles containing "covent" and then tried to apply an Any Search Term for "love". The results came back filtered by Author: Marlowe, Christopher, which was the previous filter I applied.

  3. Then I went back to the Browse page, tried to apply the "covent" filter again, and tried All Search Terms Together for "love death". The results came back without any filter applied.

  4. From the search results page, I changed the search term to "love" and the search option to Any Search Term again, and got results for Marlowe, Christoper again.

  5. But from the same results page I left my search as "love" and changed it to All Search Terms Together and got results filtered by title:covent.

Maybe someone can play around with this and see if they can replicate these problems? I've been really careful to always hit the magnifying glass on the filter options and get those results before jumping to the text search box (since I've made that mistake often before), but it's still being quite finicky for me.

Also I remember this happening when we were still in coordination with the exist folks, and they definitely did something to make the document filter less sticky.
