Documentation and a working sample

Issue #49 new

created an issue

I use the latest Java 8 version (update 40), 64-bits. For me, I first had to install the plugin from the root like so:

gradle install -Djava.home="C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.8.0_40\bin"

Then I am able to assemble the brickbreaker sample app from his project root directory like so:

gradle assemble -Djava.home="C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.8.0_40"

This will produce a jar archive in the build/libs directory. However, executing the jfxDeploy task makes no difference. The build is "success" but I cannot find anything else being built than the same old jar archive.

I am clueless as to what I'm supposed to do now. And I reckon that is only because of one thing: Where is the documentation?

Also, we need clarification what repository to clone from. This plugin is available on github.com as well.

Perhaps try with gradle debug option e.g.

    $ gradle assemble --debug

Search output for the word "Considering" & look for following message that might indicate a problem e.g.

[DEBUG] [org.gradle.api.Task] Considering EXE Installer which is a 'installer'
    [DEBUG] [org.gradle.api.Task] Running [C:\Java\jdk1.8.0_45\jre\bin\java, -version]
[INFO] [org.gradle.api.Task] Detected [iscc.exe] version 0 but version 5 is required.
[INFO] [org.gradle.api.Task] Skipping EXE Installer because of configuration error Can not find Inno Setup Compiler (iscc.exe).
Advice to Fix: Download Inno Setup 5 or later from http://www.jrsoftware.org and add it to the PATH.
[DEBUG] [org.gradle.api.Task] Considering MSI Installer which is a 'installer'
    [DEBUG] [org.gradle.api.Task] Running [C:\Java\jdk1.8.0_45\jre\bin\java, -version]
    [DEBUG] [org.gradle.api.Task] Running [C:\Program Files (x86)\WiX Toolset v3.10\bin\candle.exe, /?]
    [DEBUG] [org.gradle.api.Task] Detected [C:\Program Files (x86)\WiX Toolset v3.10\bin\candle.exe] version [3.1]
    [DEBUG] [org.gradle.api.Task] Running [C:\Program Files (x86)\WiX Toolset v3.10\bin\light.exe, /?]
    [DEBUG] [org.gradle.api.Task] Detected [C:\Program Files (x86)\WiX Toolset v3.10\bin\light.exe] version [3.1]
[DEBUG] [org.gradle.api.Task] MSI Installer passed validaiton - executing
    etc

In this case EXE installer is not getting created because Inno isn't on the path.

It looks like the plugin is more recent than GitHub (based on last commit date)
