bibtex2filename usage

NOTE: update support for RIS format, now you can use this extension as well for saving papers from Nature/Cell which only provide RIS format record!!!

How to install

  1. Download the .crx file at here. Note that due to change of google chrome's policy, you can not directly click this and install the extension. You need to right click the link and explicitly download this crx file on your local drive first.

  2. In your google chrome browser, open a new page using this url: chrome://extensions/

  3. Drag the bibtex2filename.crx file you just downloaded into this chrome extensions page and agree to install it.

  4. Check the option page, you are ready to use it!

Usage Example

  1. Go to google scholar, click import to bibtex. Or go to any other webpage that contains the valid bibtex entry for the paper you are going to download. fig1

  2. Select the bibtex entry and right click, in the context menue, select
    Copy File Name From Selected BibTex Entry

  3. Now the converted file name is in your clipboard, press ctrl+v in any input box and see the magic :)

  4. Try to download the pdf file corresponding to this bibtex entry, now the converted file name is already suggested in the download popup window and all you need to do is just clicking OK :)

What if you can not directly access bibtex file on websites such as www.sciencedirect.com?

  1. Go to this url: chrome://extensions/, find the option page for bibtex2filename

  2. Follow the instructions on Monitoring newly downloaded .bib file

How to customize file name pattern

  1. Go to this url: chrome://extensions/, find the option page for bibtex2filename

  2. Follow the instructions on the option page, and you are done!
