This attempts to solve the issue described here https://bitbucket.org/sinbad/ogre/pull-request/164/fixed-dont-look-for-ogre-library-binaries/diff without breaking finding a from-source build.

    Please change the error messages in the else accordingly?

    Otherwise it seems ok, but I will not be able to check soon. I guess it would be easy to fix if I find a problem anyway.

    I have attempted to fix the error message and have added some documentation. I didn't introduce the change that this PR fixes so I hope I have got that correct.

    Since this is not a fix and 1.9 is already released, wouldn't it be more suitable to add that to Ogre 1.10?

    Either way, there are conflicts to be resolved first.

    I removed that because the proposed fixed broke the usage of the FindOGRE.cmake when used in other build systems
