Issue #1887 resolved

The author of the commits in MacHg isn't me

Jason Harris
created an issue

If you look at: http://www.bitbucket.org/jfh/machg/overview

MacHg is a fully featured osx native mercurial client that I have written.

It looks like the following screen shot, where chrismm has done all the commits, whereas I have done them all.

Actually you can still see this! For some reason the initial commits are all listed as coming from some chrism character. He has never committing anything to my repository MacHg. See:

    http://www.bitbucket.org/jfh/machg/changesets/989f77c7c660

If you clone the repository and look back in the history... all the commits are mine. It is also most galling since it looks like he did the initial commit of the whole project when of course it was me...

Can this please get fixed ? :)

    Thanks, Jas

This usually happens when someone else has the username or email address you used in your commits (we match by email first, username second). I noticed that between new and old commits your specified email address changed - Is it possible that the other account is using the old email address?

DOH!!! Chrismm was a stupid alias I created when I was first testing out bitbucket and didn't want to get spammed, etc. Changing his email fixed all the problems. It was my fault all along. Really sorry!

But thanks so much for the quick response!

    Cheers, Jas

I'm getting this problem, also. Obviously we know what is happening, but I have a question about permissions and such.

My real name is nicholas, and on my eclipse hg plugin it has slipped in 'nick' as my HG push account name.

This means that the author shows up as the user 'nick', not as me. If this is a wontfix, thats fine, but can you reassure me that the other 'nick' willl not be able to see those checkins without the correct authentication?
