Pointed out by Steven Compall, we should allow "folding" a diff upwards by using interdiff:

    Mwell, it actually wouldn't be so hard to do, especially with the memvfs stuff we've gotten recently. We do keep track of what a patch does to each file, and it's allowed to reuse a memvfs, so you can apply a sequence of patches in memory.
