Issue #3134 resolved

Adding more emails to accounts should not need to confirm in advance

I recently uploaded some old projects to Bitbucket. In those projects I used an old email address which is now invalid, so it's impossible to confirm.

I think maybe just checking duplicates is enough for those secondary emails. Thanks.

The reason we require the confirmation is because we match email addresses when you search for users in the UI (e.g. when you want to grant read or write privileges to a user) and anyone could register "erik@atlassian.com" as one of their addresses. This would make it very hard for a user to trust whether the username that appears in a search or dropdown really is the user they think it is.

Now we also use the email address in commit messages to attribute the commit to a Bitbucket user. If this is what you are after, you can just create a repository alias for that address: http://confluence.atlassian.com/display/BITBUCKET/Setting+up+User+Aliasing+for+your+Repositories

    Cheers,

    Erik
