Issue #3523 resolved

Not Getting Email Notifications

Francois Van Niekerk
created an issue

I have my email notifications set to on, but I don't seem to be getting any emails sent to me. I have checked my spam folder. Not sure if it is a fault on my side or yours, but I also don't have much to go on.

This is quite an important feature for me, so I appreciate any help.

Actually, please discard my last comment -- I was looking in the wrong place.

The logs show the mail was handed off to Google. There's not much else we can do.

I'm not quite sure what those emails are in the list, but I have been receiving some emails, just not all that I would expect to receive, but maybe that is my problem. I am under the impression that I should get an email notification when I get a new message in my bitbucket inbox, except messages that originate with me. Everything that I get notified via email is not in my bitbucket inbox, and everything in my bitbucket inbox wasn't emailed to me. Does this sound right?

Not everything that is emailed to you ends up in your inbox (maybe that's wrong and they really should, but that's the way things are currently implemented).

Can you give me a concrete example of of event that is in your inbox that was not emailed?

P.S. Consider raising individual issues such as these with support (by mailing support@bitbucket.org), so we can more easily ask for details that don't belong on a public issue tracker).

    Regards, Erik

I don't mind posting details about the messages in my inbox. I'm not a very private person.

I haven't received an email for any of the events in my inbox. An example is the message with the subject "[OPEN] Pull request #1 for francoisvn/oakfoam: Playout SGF" another is "Fork notification: dsmic/oakfoam"

Also, should I be changing the state to open when I make a new reply, as I have been doing?

Late last week we discovered that Postfix was not running on one of our six front ends. As a result, roughly a sixth of all messages were not being sent. We've added monitoring to ensure that should this happen again we'll be alerted to the problem. I'm sorry that it took us so long to work out what was wrong this time.
