Issue #10218 resolved

slack.com integration with bitbucket (BB-11098)

Javier Gómez
created an issue

I would like to request a proper integration with slack.com.

I have tried the generic integration with slack that uses the "Pull Request POST", but it doesn't work when a new pull request is created.

What I'd also be interested in seeing is comments to commits etc. in Slack .. or rather plainly put: Ability to get notifications of everything, and ability to choose which of those notifications are shown in Slack (and where).

So... Yeah... This is our last month on BitBucket. Just finished migrating everything to GitHub and the price, in my company's case, stayed the same. 5 min after migrating I had 5 integrations working and notifying with relevant info on Slack... Good bye, Atlassian. Shame.

ito ma Is this for repo:push events, or for pull request events? Slack introduced integration w/ repo:push events some time ago, but I believe support for pull request events is somewhere in their backlog. (For now I would expect to see 500s for PR events since they haven't added support for those yet.)

    My list of requests today:

    Event Details repo:push in 3 hours 206ms 200 pullrequest:fulfilled in 3 hours 136ms 500 pullrequest:created in 3 hours 106ms 500 repo:push 5 days ago 181ms 200 repo:push 5 days ago 193ms 200 pullrequest:fulfilled 5 days ago 136ms 500 pullrequest:created 5 days ago 88ms 500 repo:push 5 days ago 523ms 200 pullrequest:fulfilled 5 days ago 405ms 500 pullrequest:comment_created 5 days ago 283ms 500

    Someone any idea? Thanks..

    All,

Currently Slack's integration with Bitbucket only supports repo:push events. Therefore any other events including pull request, issue, or comment events are going to get 500s simply because their integration has not been implemented to accept these events. If you'd like to see support for other events, you'll need to let Slack know—I suggest visiting their Help Center and submitting a feature request.

For what it's worth, I have reached out to our contacts at Slack to let them know of this request. Since there's nothing more we can really do on our end, I'm going to close this issue now.

If Slack isn't prioritising improving the Bitbucket integration (frankly, they haven't done a single thing regarding this in 1.5 years so I'm not too optimistic) then maybe it makes sense to roll your own integration? Nothing is stopping Bitbucket to write their own integration that supports all possible events.

We tried Hipchat now for 2 months and are really frustrated. Unstable iOS App which keeps logging out, unsynchronized reading statuses across devices, no editing possibility of message etc etc. Since slack is not moving forward in supporting bitbucket. I can only second this:

"If Slack isn't prioritising improving the Bitbucket integration (frankly, they haven't done a single thing regarding this in 1.5 years so I'm not too optimistic) then maybe it makes sense to roll your own integration? Please Bitbucket, go ahead and implement a proper slack implementation, since hipchat isnt there yet...

the integration works (I've been getting bitbucket notification in Slack for many months now) it just doesn't have all the features people want, like PRs, Issues, comments etc...

That's great news on one hand and sad news on the other. As soon as I voice my opinion that nothing will change after 1.5 years of inactivity..they release support for it leaving me looking like a fool :) Anyway, yay for that!
