Windows SourceTree can not clone new empty Bitbucket Mercurial repository

Note that this might be specific to Windows. I can't remember if it happened on Mac.

1. Create a new mercurial repository on Bitbucket.
2. Click on the Clone in SourceTree button.
3. In the URL Actions pop-up, verify values and click Clone.
   Actual Result:
   abort: unknown branch 'default'!
