behavior/nature of markdown syntax(of the lining indent)

I encountered a bug in wiki markdown. I have images below about the bug.

Without spacing, you will see that the numbering reverts to 1. http://prntscr.com/duyu49\\
With spacing, the number correctly shows as 3. http://prntscr.com/duyuw2

Expected output to look like this --> http://prntscr.com/duyww9

I submitted a ticket of this bug in support.atlassian.com and they suggested to raise this bug here.

I will just quote some of their last message.

"The reason is because Bitbucket uses Python Markdown Syntax, and it is different from other types of Markdown Syntax.
We would suggest that you raise this issue over at our site master, where our developer team dwells so as to allow them to look into the issue and provide advice in regards to this as they do not oversee nor check out on Support tickets."
