Upgrade Docker for multi-stage builds (v17.05+)

Issue #14333 resolved

created an issue

We'd like to use bitbucket pipelines, but we require the multistage build feature introduced in docker 17.05. Unfortunately the version reported in bitbucket pipeline is from the 1.12 series, which is now almost a year old.

Is there a way by which we can run a newer version of docker for our pipelines or is there a timeline for when bitbucket pipeline's version of docker will be updated to a more current one?

    Thanks Chris for the feedback.

There's no way to use a different Docker version unless you run your own Docker daemon and remotely connect to it.

We'll keep you updated on this ticket.

+1 multi-stage building a very important feature to keep the size of the resulting docker image minimally small especially for deployment across a cluster or a cloud.

+1, at our company, we need at least the version 17.05 (some new flags with HEALTHCHECK instruction) of docker to use the BitBucket Pipelines

@xtjhin Any news / ETA about this upgrade ?
