size reported in repo setting is different then clone repo size

Hi

I have a repository that is reported to be in size of 1.3GB, but when I clone the repository to my computer the size is only 284MB.
The local repository size used to be around 1GB and I used garbage collection to reduce it (succesfully), but for some reason the remote repo (source) size didn't reduce.
I'd be happy to get your help.
