Repository size calculations for a fork

Issue #16707 new

I have just forked Linux kernel repository and it's size already 1.8Gb according to the "Settings" view.

First of all, I think it's wrong. The size of just forked repository should not be bigger than few (dozens?) megabytes. I can easily check this locally when using git clone --local ...

Second, I'm wondering what would you do when the repository to fork will be over the stupid 2Gb limit. (By the way, is it still in place for forked known open source projects?)
