Ability to prevent a pipelines build from a commit message or option

Issue #16783 resolved
Nick Phillips created an issue

Take the following scenario: approve/merge 5 pull requests into the develop branch which is automatically configured to build on each push to this branch.

There's now 5 builds running simultaneously.

Would be nice if there was a way to prevent builds by either a specific string in the commit message or a option in the UI.

use [skip ci] or [ci skip] in your commit message to prevent Pipelines from running. (I found this hidden in the FAQ when looking for a solution myself.)

    Hi @Nick Phillips,

Thanks for reaching out and for the suggestion.

As @Performance Foundry Bot mentioned, you can include skip ci or ci skip in your commit message if you don't want a pipeline to run for that commit. Any commits that include skip ci or ci skip in the message are ignored by Pipelines.

    Hope this helps!
