Issue #1680 resolved

existing css makes bold wiki text not show up as bold

Nicholas Tung
created an issue

The title pretty much says it all; using the double-asterisk syntax, bold text (converted to strong tags) doesn't appear any different than regular text in Firefox 3.6. Example page (content may change):

    Yep, it's annoying. Digging around in layout.css, I found this:

    #wiki h1, #wiki h2, #wiki h3, #wiki h4, #wiki h5, #wiki h6, #wiki b, #wiki strong {
    	font-family: Georgia, Times, "Times New Roman", serif;
    	font-weight: normal;
    }

    Note the "strong" tag. So it's just a different font (which you can actually see if you squint), but not bold as it should be.

    That override on the "#wiki strong" selector could either be removed, to maintain the sensible default, or "re-overridden" later on to make strong = bold again. It's just irritating to have unnecessary surprises like this in an otherwise great tool.
