Double enter in code block snaps out of it and removes the last line

Whenever I'm writing a code block and I do a double enter, it snaps out of the code block and puts the cursor below the block. This is really annoying, I want to be able to put as many enters as I like. Often enough this happens because I want have a blank line between 2 statements, but sometimes I also want more to visualize 2 different blocks while writing code in a review.
