Issue #1754 resolved

abort: HTTP Error 500: Internal Server Error

livemedia
created an issue

I am receiving this error when trying to push to one of my repositories. Other repos on my account appear to work fine, as does my bitbucket account.

I have not done anything special; I've been using this repo for about a year with no problems. I committed and pushed just fine last night, however, today I am getting this error everytime I try to push to this repo, from several different servers

Is there some sort of downtime? How can I fix this ?

Edit: The repo is this: https://bitbucket.org/livemedia/cpack/ (private)

    Hi Jesper,

Thanks for the prompt reply. It does seem to work correctly now. How does a situation like this occur? And, if it happens again in future, is there anything I can do to resolve it myself, or would I need to create an issue?

    Thanks again, Kevin

  2. Jesper Nøhr

There's a couple of edge-cases where this can happen, some of them have been fixed in Mercurial 1.5, and we'll be upgrading to that soon, and so should you.

If this happens again, the fastest way to get it resolved is to write us at support@bitbucket.org, or come on the IRC channel and find me, 'jespern'. But hopefully it shouldn't happen too often, and hopefully soon, not at all.

    Hi Jespern,

I have the same situation today. Can you please fix this?

  6. impirus

We have been getting the same error this morning:

pushing to https://impirus:***@bitbucket.org/impirus/webfactory-dev/ searching for changes HTTP Error 500: Internal Server Error

Our other repos are working fine. This one worked until this morning. We have an automated system. After a checkin, the build failed and we now get the above error on push.

In our case, the original error was because the automated build system was trying to push a changeset with a tag that was already in the bitbucket repository. We had an issue where our build system did not increase the number. I assume the abort because of the duplicate tag is what got our repository in the state that causes the above error.

    Please rollback that failed transaction.

    Thanks,

    Matt

    Hello,

I'm having the same issue, my internet dropped halfway through a push and I've been getting a 500 ever since:

    Many thanks.

It may be because I first tried to push a way too large rep (>100MB)... Now I only left the sources :p

  12. Sergei Kretov

    As a remark:

it is strange, that I can clone-push-pull on windows machine without any problems using TortoiseHg, but on linux via command line i get 500 error.

  13. Jesper Nøhr

Don't think you added me, I can't access it, nor did I get an email informing me of my new privileges.

Anyway, I don't need that anymore. If it works from your windows box, then it's not an issue with the repository (hg verify didn't find anything wrong either.)

Can you try again on your linux machine? If you're using SSH, try HTTP, and if you're using HTTP, try SSH.

That'll help narrow down the problem. Keep us posted.

  14. bucketofbits

I can clone normally on most machines, but one one machine I get abort: HTTP Error 500: Internal Server Error when attempting to clone on one particular. Could this be related to this issue?

  15. Trey Brister

Here was the command that fixed it on my centos cpanel server

Its suexec so it runs as my user

On your remote webhost, cd to your document root for Apache and type this command:

    chmod -R g+rwx .hg

If you apache is running as a user like nobody or www-data or apache type

    chgrp -R mymall .hg

    Can you please assist

    Kind Regards

    Jason

ps. I have attempted to do this change via a pull request from my mixwip repository, however this no longer works.

  20. Dylan Etkin

Hi MixJenkinsCI and Satish and All future folks looking at this issue,

Please raise a support request at support@bitbucket.org for these kinds of issues.

I believe that almost all pushes are not resulting in a 500 so we should deal with this on an account by account basis.

    Cheers,

    Dylan

Everything has worked for weeks, and I did a push this morning 12:00pm GMT but now I'm getting HTTP Error: 500 (Internal Server Error) when I try to pull or push.

    Here's the repo: https://jbirkett@bitbucket.org/lmgames/spookybonus

However my colleague who is using the same repo in a different location can access it fine. I've rebooted the PC and all other Internet works.

    Many thanks for any help!

  23. Jake Birkett

Just a heads up, after I submitted my support request I received a password reset request email on my atlassian email account (not same one I use for bitbucket). Not sure who did that, if it was support or what. But I ignored it as it seemed a bit weird and dodgy.

Hello. I have a similar issue. The same happened to me - internal server error. Resolved this myself by deleting the broken repo and creating new one. Is the only way to delete broken repo and create new one in this case? When I want to fix it myself?
