More information about pipeline from inside pull request

Issue #18275 open

When running a pipeline triggered by a pull request, it would be nice to set the name of the step for the pipeline shown in the pull request status (see attached image). As it's currently working, the name is "Pipeline #20 for Pull request #4" where #20 is the number of pipelines in the system and #4 is the id of the pull request, and there seems to be no way of choosing this.

    Hi @Per Gårdebrink,

Thanks for reaching out. Just to make sure I've understood correctly, you'd like to be able to see the pipeline step name when clicking into the build status from a PR? How would you expect this to behave with pipelines that have multiple steps?

If I would say, I would like each step to be able to be represented as a new entry. In the attached example, I get the first entry from the pipeline (with the obscure name), and the second entry comes from TeamCity, reporting back through the bitbucket api and appending that to the build status on the commit. If the pipeline would have multiple steps, it would be nice if each step could be listed, or that the last step would be the one "winning" (might be a problem if the steps runs in parallell though)

Thanks for clarifying - I can see why having more information about the pipeline visible would be useful.

We’re currently working on higher priority projects so it’s unlikely we’ll get to this in the short term. In the meantime, however, I’ll open this ticket to gauge the interest of other users in seeing the same thing.
