I might be misunderstanding here, but aren't we already using HTTPS? E.g. my clone URL for bitbucket is https://eirik@bitbucket.org/jespern/bitbucket/

It's been a while, but I believe I meant that http://www.bitbucket.org/username/privaterepo/src/ and its links should default to HTTPS.

Bitbucket has been HTTPS only for a while now, resolving this.
