Issue #3492 duplicate

Optional comments for SSH keys

André Thieme
created an issue

When I uploaded a bunch of SSH keys it can be very difficult to keep track of them. Yes, the preview shows the last parts and can this way add more information. But it would be much more helpful if I could provide my own comment for new and existing ones.

    Hi Andre,

When you create a SSH identity, you can add a comment to it that will display on in your key list on bitbucket. For example:

    ssh-keygen -f /.ssh/personalid -C "personalid for home pc"

In PuTTygen you place this additional information in the Key comment field.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, I am aware of this. This is what I meant (but didn’t clearly express) by saying “the preview shows the last parts” (of my ssh keys), and thus the comment. Sometimes however, in working environments, I can have multiple keys with the same comments, and not always chose the comment myself. This is why I brought up this request.
