Issue #3707 closed

Keyboard shortcuts / and ? don't work on non-US keyboard (BB-3711)

created an issue

If I use my native keyboard layout the keys / or ? do nothing. If I switch to US layout they work as advertised.

    Hi kankri,

I tested this out locally and was unable to reproduce the problem. I tested keyboard shortcuts on MacOS, using the keyboard layout for German, French, Danish and Chinese (Simplified) using both Firefox and Chrome.

Would you be able to tell us:

    • What keyboard layout is broken for you?
    • On what browser and OS do you see this behaviour?

    Cheers, Brian

Maybe MacOS works differently but it makes sense to try Windows as well...

My keyboard has Finnish layout (e.g. slash (/) is shift-7, question mark (?) is shift-+).

I'm using Chrome 18 on Windows 7. Like I mentioned, / or ? does nothing, even in incognito mode, so this shouldn't be an extension issue.

I tried also plain Firefox and there BOTH / and ? bring up the keyboard shortcuts dialog.

Sorry for not replying earlier, but I didn't see anything on my dashboard or BB inbox. I'm following this issue, but I can't even find a place which lists all the issues I'm following... Maybe this is subject for another issue or two.

    Hi kankri,

Thanks for the clarification. As you say the problem is specific to Chrome on Windows, I assume that Bitbucket is handling the key event in an non-standard way. I will continue to look into this and keep you updated.

    Cheers, Brian

Just noticed the problem is back! :-( Was this rebroken with the recent UI update?

If I try to focus the search box with slash / (which on my FI keyboard is Shift+7) I get the keyboard shortcut help popup.

If I switch to US keyboard layout and press the key which would be slash (the key marked with - on my keyboard), focus moves to the search box as intended.

An additional peculiarity is that to get the shortcut help popup, I have to press the trigger key twice, whether I'm using US or FI layout.

    I'm using Chrome version 23.0.1271.40 beta-m on Windows 7.
